June 12, 2006, the first day of sunshine in Halifax in a full month.  What better to do than to wander the city checking out bikes?

Looking at these photos, you'll probably notice that I was mostly interested in the formal qualities of the shadows cast by the bikes.  The clear crisp shadows that day were in remarkable contrast to the diffuse natural lighting conditions that had prevailed for the previous month.  I might never have noticed the complex and beautiful geometry created by a bicycle and its shadow had it not been such a novelty to see sunshine.
